Chap. 373.—An ACT to authorize the proper authorities of any college,
institution or seminary of learning, or manual labor school, to con-
vert consol coupon bonds into funded registered consol bonds of the
state.
Approved March 10, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the proper authorities of any incorporated college, institution
or, seminary of learning, or of any manual labor school in
this state, may, in the option of such authorities, exchange
any consgl coupon bonds, issued under act of the gencral
assembly approved thirteenth March, eighteen hundred
and seventy-one, held by or on behalf of such college, institu-
tion, seminary or school, for funded registered consol bonds of
the same class, under said act of March thirticth, eighteen
hundred and seventy-one. Such college, institution, semi-
nary or school, making such exchange, shall enjoy the same
rights and privileges as to the funded registered consol bonds
so taken, as are now engaged under act of assembly approved
March third, eighteen hundred and eighty-two, entitled an
act to preserve the endowments of the colleges and other lit-
erary institutions of this state when they are held in the
obligations of this state, in regard to the bonds so surren-
dered and exchanged.
2. All consol coupon bonds, together with the coupons at-
tached, surrendered in exchange under this act, shall be can-
celled by the treasurer of the commonwealth, in the presence
of the board of commissioners of the sinking fund at the time
such exchange is made, and the same shall be carefully pre-
served in the office of the treasurer of the commonwealth.
The second auditor and the treasurer of the commonwealth
shall preserve lists of the consol coupon bonds and coupons
surrendered in exchange under this act.
3. This act shall be force from its passage.
