Carolina Railroad.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
an act entitled an act to incorporate the Lynchburg, Halitax
and North Carolina railroad company, ap proved. January
eighteenth, eighteen bundred and eighty -four, be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§7. It shall be lawful for said railroad company to reecive
subscriptions to its capital stock, from any connecting rail-
road company, or from any mining or manufacturing com-
pany, or from any county in Virginia that may be interested
in its construction—any such subscription by a county to be
made in the manner and subject to the restrictions prescribed
by the goneral laws of the state: provided, that if in the
county of Halitax it appears that three-fifths of the qualified
voters, voting upon the question, voted in favor of the sub-
scription, and aid three-fifths contained a majority of the
votes cast by the treeholdcrs voting, the said subscription
shall be binding upon the county: and provided further, that
the counties of Halifax and Campbell shall not subscribe
more than one hundred thousand dollars cach.
