Chap. 312.—An ACT to incorporate the Northern Neck News Com-
pany.
Approved March 7, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
A. N. Wellford, William AL Jones, and B. Randolph Welltord,
and such persons as they may hereafter associate with them,
their successors and assigns, be and they are hereby made
and constituted a body politic and corporate, under the name
and style of Northern Neck News company, for the purpose of
editing and publishing a newspaper, and carrying on the busi-
ness of a general printing office, at Warsaw, Richmond county,
Virginia; and under that name and style shall have perpetual
succession, may sue and be sued, contract and be contracted
with, plead and be impleaded, have a common seal, and may
change the same at pleasure, and shall have all the rights
and privileges s of a corporation, and be subject to all the ro-
strictions of the same imposed by the laws of Virginia, now
in force in reference to joint stock companies, so far they are
not inconsistent with the provisions of this act.
2. The capital stock of said company shall not be less than
one thousand dollars, nor more than ten thousand dollars,
divided into shares of twenty-five dollars each, and such
shares of stock may be disposed of in the purchase of presses,
materials and all articles necessary for its business, upon such
terms as the directors may deem expedient, and shall be
transferable as provided tor by the by-laws of the company,
and each share shall entitle the holder thercof, to one vote
at all meetings of the stockholders, to be given in person or
by proxy.
3. The said company shall have the power to purchase or
acquire land sufficient for the purpose of erecting thereon,
buildings suitable for its purposes.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
