Chap. 305.—An ACT to incorporate the trustees of Band of Brethren:
Lodge, No. 1,950, G. U. O. of O. F. of Yorktown, Virginia.

Whereas there is established in Yorktown, Virginia, a
benevolent institution known as the Band of Brethren Lodge,
number one thousand nine hundred and fifty, Grand United
Order of Odd Fellows, which has for its object, mutual aid
and assistance to its members in time of sickness, the bury-
ing of deceased members, and so forth; and whereas, it is
believed that the facilities of said institution, for accomplish-
ing its benevolent purposes, would be greatly promoted by
obtaining an act of incorporation of the said Band of Breth-
ren Lodge, number one thousand nine hundred and fifty,
Grand United Order of Odd Fellows; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
James ‘B. Mitchell, Robert I. Lewis, A. P. Christian, E. T.
Chusman, Charles N, Allen, Henry Smith, K. H. Brown, J.
H. Robinson, and Robert G. Griffin, and their successors, be
and are hereby appointed a body politic and corporate, by
the name and style of the trustees of Band of Brethren
Lodge, number one thousand nine hundred and fifty, Grand
United Order of Odd Fellows of Yorktown, Virginia, and by
that name shall have a perpetual succession and common
seal; may contract and be contracted with, sue and be sued;
may acquire, receive, hold, possess, and enjoy, and may rent,
sell, convey, invest, and otherwise manage or dispose of as
may to them seem most conducive to their interest and
benevolent purposes of the said Band of Brethren Lodge,
number one thousand nine hundred and fifty, Grand United
Order of Odd Fellows, all Jands, money or other property,
real or personal, which may have been, or which may be
given, or otMerwise acquired for the use of said lodge, and
the said trustees and their successors shall hold office as
trustees, no longer than they remain members of said Band
of Brethren Lodge, number one thousand nine hundred and
fifty, or till their successors enter upon the discharge of their
duties as trustees: provided, that the sum of money so
acquired, shall not exceed ten thousand dollars: and pro-
vided, that the amount of land held by them shall not exceed
one hundred acres.
2. The trustees shall be elected according to the laws and
rules of the aforesaid lodge, and shall have power to appoint
such officers as may be necessary. and shall exact from any
of them, such bonds or other security, in such penalty as the
trustees shall direct, conditioned for the faithful performance
of their duties, and the bonds of the secretary and treasurer
of said lodge, and other officers of whom bonds may be re-
quired, nay be made payable to said trustees.
3. Three trustees shall constitute a quorum for the trans-
action of business; but it shall require a majority of all the
trustees to make sale of real estate.
4. This act shall take effect from its passage, and shall be
subject to the laws of this state and of the United States.
