Chap. 261.—An ACT to amend the charter of the Tagus Mill and Min-
ing Company.
Approved March 4, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the sixth section of chapter two hundred and forty-eight, Acts
eighteen hundred and eighty-one-two, approved March sixth,
eizhtcen hundred and eighty-two, entitled an act to incorpo-
rate the Tagus mill and mining company of Virginia, be and
the same is hereby amended and re-enacted so us to read as
follows:
§ 6. The said company shall have the right to fix the num-
ber of directors by its by-laws, one of whom shall be a presi-
dent, to be elected by a majority in interest of the stockhold-
ers. and also elect a secretary and treasurer, and may fix such
compensation for each as a majority of the stockholders may
agree upon. The said directors and officers shall hold their
office for such time as may be provided by the by-laws, and
until their successors shall have been elected; and the prin-
cipal office of said company, or place of business, shall be in
Goochland county, Virginia; and there may be such branch
offices at such points as may be designated by the stock-
holders.
2. That the said company, by the acceptance of this char-
ter, hereby agrees to pay all taxes, dues, and demands due the
state that may be hereafter assessed against it, in lawful
money of the United States, and not in coupons.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
