Chap. 260.—An ACT to incorporate the Trustees of Washington Lodge,
No. 2,1. 0. O. F.
Approved March 4, 1884.
Whereas Washington lodge, number two, Independent
Order of Odd. Fellows, at Nortolk, has invested six thousand
dollars for the benofit of its benevolencies; and whereas it
now has more money which it wishes to invest for the same
purposes; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That Joel C.
White, k. M. Solomon, and R. W. Pettit, and their succes-
sore in office, elected in accordance with the by-laws of said
lodge, be, and they are hereby created a body politic and
corpor ate, by the name of The Trustees of Washington Lodge,
Number Two, Independent Order of Odd- Fellows, at Norfolk,
Virginia, and ‘by that name may sue and be sued, plead and
be impleaded, and do all and every act necessary to enjoy
the powers hereinafter conferred.
2. The said trustees shall hold all the property of said
lodge, and whenever directed so to do by said lodge, they are
hereby authorized to lend out, invest, or otherwise dispose of
any money, or other property, belonging to them, in such
manner as they shall be required by a vote of the members
of said lodge, in regular meeting assembled.
3. All property, real or personal, and all choses in action
which shall come to the hands of the said trustees, shall
be held by them for the exclusive use and benefit of the said
Washington lodge, number two, and shall be at all times
subject to the control of the said lodge.
4. The charter granted by an act of the general assembly
on December twenty-first, eighteen hundred and forty-six,
entitled an act authorizing the Independent Order of Odd-
Fellows of Norfolk city, and town of Portsmouth, to hold a
limited amount of property, in its application to this said
Washington lodge, is hereby annulled.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
