Chap. 248.—An ACT to incorporate the Richmond Fireman’s Relief
Association.
Approved March 3, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
George W. Taylor, Arthur L. Fuqua, E. T. Snead, William
G. Puller, Edward H. Fisher, J. H. Redwood, H. Paul, James
R. Shepperd, James T. Pemberton, L. C. Jenkins, J. E.
Walthall, C. M. Stone, R. Burton, together with such other
persons as are now or may hereafter be associated with them,
are hereby created a body politic and corporate, by the
name and style of the Richmond Fireman’s Relief Associa-
tion, and by that name shall have perpetual succession and
a common seal; may contract and be contracted with, sue
and be sued, plead and be impleaded, receive and hold to
them and their successors forever, any lands, tenements.

be devised or given to the said Richmond Fireman’s Relief
association, or which may be purchased by said association
for use of same; and also to lease, rent, sell or otherwise dis-
pose of the said property as shall be deemed best for the good
f said association: provided that the money or other thing
o be held by said Relief association shall not exceed in value
fty thousand dollars.
2. The object of the association shall be the accumulation
f a fund from the payment of monthly, quarterly, and death
ues, as may be provided for in the by-laws of said associa-
ion, for the relief of sick and disabled firemen. Said associa-
ion may enact a constitution and by-laws for the manaye-
nent of its aftuirs, and elect such officers as may to them
eem best, and may do such other things to carry out the
bjects of the said association as may not be inconsistent
vith the laws of this state or the United States.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
