Chap. 220.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 20 of an act ap-
proved February 6, 1878, entitled an act to provide for working roads
in the counties of Shenandoah and Page.
Approved March 3, 1ss¢.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section twenty of an act approved February sixth, elyhteen
hundred and seventy-cight, entitled an act to provided for
working the roads in the counties of Shenandoah and Page,
be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
$20. Every person required to work, shall cither in per-
son or by a sufficent substitute, when required by the overseer
of roads for his district, attend with proper tools and work
the roads on such days, not excecding two in each year, as
the overseer of roads may direct. For every day on which
there may be a failure, eighty cents shall be paid as a fine to
the said overseer of roads, within twenty days thereatter by
the person in default, if a person of full age, or if he be an
infant, by his parent or guardian. If the money be not paid
within the prescribed time, the overseer ot roads shall deliver
an account of said fine to the constable of the district, or
other officer of the county, taking his official receipt therefor,
and such officer shall collect said fine, if necessary, by dis-
tress or levy as in the collection of taxes.
2. All acts and parts of acts in conflict with this act, are
hereby repealed.
This act shall be in force from its passage.
