Chap. 212.—An ACT to transfer to the county of Clarke the interest
of the commonwealth inthe Berryville and Charlestown turnpike.
Approved March 1, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the interest of the state of Virginia in the Berryville and
Charlestown turnpike, so far as the said turnpike is situated
in the state of Virginia, be and the same is hereby transferred
for the benefit of the people of this state to the board of
supervisors of Clarke county; and the said board are autho-
rized to provide tor the keeping of said road in proper repair,
but shall charge upon said road only such rate of tolls as may
be necessary for this purpose, but not to exceed the rate pre-
scribed by law; and the said board of supervisors are autho-
rized to settle the accounts of T. P. Pendleton, late the super-
intendent of said road, and apply any balance that may be
due from him to the use of said road.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage, but shall be
revocable at the pleasure of the general assembly.
