Chap. 210.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 5 of an act entitled
an act to amend and re-enact an act approved Murch 24, 1871, entitled
an act to incorporate the town of Luray, in the county of Page, and
an act approved April 30, 1874, entitled an act to amend and re-enact
section 5 of an act to incorporate the town of Luray, approved March
28, 1879. .

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section five of an act entitled an act to amend and re-enact
an act approved March twenty-four, eighteen hundred and
seventy-one, entitled an act to incorporate the town of Luray,
in the county of Page, and an act approved April thirty,
eighteen hundred and seventy-four, entitled an act to amend
and re-enact section five of an act to incorporate the town of
Luray, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§5. That the said council and mayor shall be invested with,
and exercise individually or collectively, all the powers and
authority which can be exercised by justices of the peace,
under the charter, by-laws and ordinances of said town, and
under the laws of the state, for prosecuting and suppressing
unlawful assemblies, disturbances, violent and disorderly con-
duct within the corporate limits of said town. They shall
have power to impose fines not exceeding twenty dollars in
amount, and may commit to the jail of said county of Page
till said fines are paid, or compel such persons 80 committed,
to work on the streets or public buildings for a term not
exceeding sixty days.
2. All acts and parts of acts in conflict with this act are
hereby repealed.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
