Chap. 209.—An ACT to authorize the board of supervisors of Halifax
county to let public roads to contract.

Approved March 1, 1884.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
in addition to the provisions of the present general road laws,
the board of supervisors for the county of Halifax are hereby
authorized and empowered, for the working and keeping in
repair of all the roads, or any part thereof, in said county, to
let the same, or any part thereof, by contract to the lowest
bidder, said contractor to give bond, with sufficient security,
to be approved by said board of supervisors, that the work
will be done according to contract.

2. That the said board of supervisors shall pay for the
working of said roads out of any money in the hands of the
treasurer not otherwise disposed of, and may levy a tax for
this purpose not exceeding eight cents on one hundred dol-
lars worth of property, real or personal.

3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
