Chap. 197.—An ACT to authorize Virginia Midland railway to issue
bonds to provide for the payment of the present bonds and debts of
suid company.
Approved February 26, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia. That
the Virginia Midland ail ay company be authorized to
issue its bonds to such an amount as the directors of .said
company may resolve upon, for the purpose of paying and
retiring the present bonds and debts of said company, and for
extending the road of said company as heretofore authorized
by law, and for making improvements and betterments. and
increasing its machinery, rolling stock, and terminal facili-
ties; and to secure payment of the principal and interest of
said bonds hereby authorized to be issued, by executing one
or more deeds of trust or mortgages, on the franchises, tolls,
receipts, and whole property, real or personal, acquired or
hereatter to be acquired of said Virginia Midland railway
company, such bonds to bear such rates of interest not ex-
eeeding that now allowed by law, as may be deemed expe-
dient hy the directors of said company.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
