Chap. 192.—An ACT to amend and re-enact an act entitled an act
to incorporate the Nansemond Land, Lumber and Narrow Gauge
Railway Company, approved March 19, 1873, and to change the name
of said company.
Approved February 26, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section two of an act entitled an act to incorporate the Nan-
semond Land, Lumberand Narrow Gauge Railway Company,
approved March nineteenth, eighteen hundred and seventy-
three, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 2. Whenever fifty shares of stock, amounting to five
thousand dollars, shall have been subscribed and paid, the
subscribers, their heirs and assigns shall be and they are
hereby declared and constituted a body politic and corporate
under tho name and style of the Suffolk and Carolina Rail-
way Company, and that said company be allowed and is
hereby authorized to continue the construction of said rail-
way on the direct line from Suffolk to the nearest point on
the North Carolina line in the direction of Lumsbury, in the
county of Gates, in said state of North Carolina, and there
connect with any railroad chartered under the laws of said
state. The capital stock of said company is hereby author-
ized to be increased to such a sum not exceeding five hun-
dred thousand dollars, as the stockholders may hereafter
determine; and said company is authorized to issue bonds to
be secured by mortgage or deed of trust on the road now
completed, or to be hereafter constructed, on the road-bed, roll-
ing-stock, franchise, tolls, rents and income of said company ;
and said company is invested with all the powers conferred
by the Code and general laws of this state relating to railway
companies and not inconsistent with this act.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
