Chap. 179.—An ACT for the relief of Reuben Ruffner, George W. Sedg-
wick and others.
Approved February 25, 1884.
Whereas the commonwealth of Virginia, in the years eigh-
teen hundred and sixty-eight, and eighteen hundred and
seventy, obtained three judgments in the circuit courts of
the city of Richmond, against James C. Robertson, late
sheriff of Page county, and Reuben Ruffner, George W. Sedg-
wick, Peter B. Borst, John R. Almond, Turner E. Jett, and
John H. Keyser, his sureties, for the following amounts, to-wit:
one judgment for two thousand three hundred and ninety-
six dollars and thirteen cents, one for one thousand seven
hundred and seventy-two dollars and twenty cents, and one
for seven thousand seven hundred seventy-two dollars and
twenty cents, with damages upon said judgments aggregating
one thousand seven hundred and ninety dollars and eighty-
eight cents; and whereas, all of said three judgments have
been fully satisfied by the sureties of the said James C.
Robertson, except as to the said damages of one thousand
seven hundred and ninety dollars and eighty-eight cents, as
is evidenced by the receipt of the auditor of public accounts
of date, May eleventh, eighteen hundred and eighty-three ;
therefore,
1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the said Reuben Ruffner, George W. Sedgwick, Peter B.
Borst, John R. Almond, Turner EK. Jett, and John H. Keyser,
sureties of said James C. Robertson, late sheriff of Page
county, be, and they are hereby released from the payment
of said damages aforesaid.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
