Chap. 140.—An ACT to facilitate the execution of orders of reference
and to lessen the expense thereof.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
whenever any order of reference is made to any commissioner
in chancery in any suit in equity, it shall be the duty of the
clerk, upon his request therefor, to deliver to such commis-
sioner in chancery, whether he be specially named in the
order of reference or not, the original papers in the cause in
which the order of reference is made; and it shall not be
necessary for, nor shall the clerk, unless specially ordered so
to do, make any copy of any such papers, nor shall he charge
any fee therefor, unless such copy is specially ordered and
actually made. The commissioner in chancery to whom such
papers may be delivered, shall execute his receipt therefor,
and as speedily as possible return the papers to the office of
the clerk of the court.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
