Chap. 122.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2, chapter 81 of
the Code of 1873, repealing the joint resolution approved April 7,
1882, and adding other sections touching the Deaf and Dumb and
Blind Institute, at Staunton, Virginia.
In force February 18, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section two, chapter eishty-one, of the Code of Virginia,
eighteen hundred and Reve nty- three, be amended and re-
enacted so as to read as follows :
§ 2. The board of public works of Virginia shall, every
four years, appoint seven persons as visitors of said institu-
tion, who shall be a board tor the government thereof. The
term of service shall commence on the first day of April in
each year, and may continue till their successors shall be ap-
yointed. If any vacancy happen in the office of visitors the
Board of public works shall fill it. The board of public works
shall select and appoint members of said board of visitors
with reference solely to fitness and business qualification with-
out regard to party affiliation. Any member of said board
of visitors may be removed at any time by order of the board
of public works, which shall cause to be entered upon its
minutes the order of removal and the cause of removal.
3. Be it further enacted by the general assembly of Vir-
ginia, That all the offices of all the members of the present
board of visitors of the Deafand Dumb and Blind Institute
at Staunton, Virginia, shall be vacated on the first day of
April, eighteen hundred and eighty-four.
4. That all acts and parts of acts inconsistent with this
act, be and the same are hereby repealed.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
