Chap. 109.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2 of chapter 102
of the Coue of 1873, in regard to Vicious Animals.
Approved February 12, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section two of chapter one hundred and two of the Code of
Virvinia, edition of eighteen hundred and seventy-three, be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
$2. If any person shall wilfully or negligently permit any
unaltered horse or jack, of the age of two years or more, to
vo at large out of the enclosed grounds of the owner or
keeper, or shall ‘take such horse or jack, to any place of
public worship, after being admonished by any person not to
di so, he shall forfeit ten dollars for the first offence, and
for the second offence, double that amount, to be recovered
before a justice of the peace, one-half of which shall go to
the informer; and for the third offence, said horse or jack
shall be the property of any person who will take possession
of him. And if any person allow any bear or bears to be led,
driven or transported on or along any public street or road
within this commonwealth, unless said bear or bears be con-
fined in a cage, except while accompanying a regularly orga-
nized circus or menagerie, he shall be fined not less than five
nor more than twenty dollars.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
