Chap. 98.—An ACT to extend.the time for the collection and payment
of the revenues, for eighteen hundred and eighty-one, in the county
of Alleghany.

Whereas from sickness in his family and other hindrances,
alleged by him, the commissioner of the revenue for the
county of Alleghany, failed to make up his books of assess-
ment of taxes for said county for the year eighteen hundred
and eighty-one, until the latter part of February last, and
thereby the tax-payers of said county have not had opportu-
nity to pay the same, or the treasurer the means to make
and report collections thereof, within the periods required by
law; therefore,
1. Be it enacted, That the periods for the collection, pay-
ment, and return of the taxes for the said county, for the
assessment for eighteen hundred and eighty-one, be extended
for six months beyond the time or times required by law,
and that the treasurer, collector, and tax-payers of said
county, be relieved from all penalties, or forfeitures, or im-
posts thereon incurred by reason of the same being not pre-
sented, accounted for, paid or settled within the periods
required by law, anything in any act of the general assembly
to the contrary notwithstanding.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
