Chap. 51.—An ACT to provide for the erection of a suitable building
for the confinement and employment of the female convicts in the
penitentiary.
Approved April 14, 1882.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, -That the super-
intendent of the penitentiary, with the approval of the board
of directors, is hereby authorized to have erected, on the
nitentiary grounds, outside of the main buildings, a suita-
le building for the confinement and employment of the
female convicts in the penitentiary; and in the erection of
said building, the superintendent shall employ convict labor
as far as may be practicable; and for the payment of the
material for said building, and such work as cannot be done
by the convicts, the superintendent, with the approval of the
board of directors, may draw his draft on the auditor of
public accounts for an amount, or amounts, not to exceed the
sum of twenty thousand dollars, to be paid out of any money
in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
