Chap. 44.—An ACT to incorporate Fidelity Division, No. 1, Sons of
Temperance, of Richmond, Virginia.
Approved April 14, 1882.
1. Be ft enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
William Isaac Johnson, R. Bruce Evans, R. McNorton, Val-
entine Griffin, John Russel, Lewis Dickinson, Robert Gra-
ham, Richard Adams, and such other persons as are now, or
may hereafter become members of the association, be and
they are hereby made a body politic and corporate, by the
name and style of Fidelity Division, number one, Sons of
Temperance, and by that name may sue and be sued,
plead and be impleaded in all the courts of the common-
wealth.
2. The objects of this corporation shall be to take care of
the sick and destitute members, to bury its dead, to support
the widows and orphan children of its members, and to
encourage and promote good morals and knowledge among
its members and their families. The said corporation may
take and hold so much real and personal estate as may be
suitable for its objects, either within, or in the immediate
vicinity of Richmond, not to exceed in value fifteen thousand
dollars. The place of business of said corporation shall be
in the city of Richmond, and it may make by-laws, rules, and
regulations, consistent with the laws of this state and the
United States, as it may deem proper for the government of
its members, the management of its affairs, and for the use,
enjoyment, and control of its property.
3. The legislature reserves for itself the right to modify or
repeal this act at pleasure.
4. This act shall! be in force from its passage.
