Chap. 33.—An ACT to ratify and confirm the consolidation of the
Richmond and Southwestern Railway Company with the Virginia,
Kentucky and Ohio Narrow Gauge Railroad Company, under the
name of the Richmond and Louisville Railroad Compan , and to
increase the capital stock and enlarge the powers of said Richmond
and Louisville Railroad Company.

Whereas the Richmond and Southwestern railway com-
pany, incorporated by an act of the general assembly of
Virginia, approved February second, eighteen hundred and
eivhty, and the Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio Narrow
Gauge railroad company, incorporated by an act of the
veneral assembly of Virginia, approved February twentieth,
zichteen hundred and seventy-eight, in pursuance of the
powers vested in them by their respective charters, have con-
colidated themselves into a corporation, by the name and
ityle of The Richmond and Louisville Railroad Company;
now. therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
he said consolidation of the said Richmond and Southwestern
railroad company with the said Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio
Narrow Gauge railroad company, under the corporate name
the Richmond and Louisville Railroad Company, be and
‘he same is hereby ratified and confirmed; and all and singu-
ar, the terms, stipulations, and provisions of the said agree-
nent of consolidation, be and the same are hereby assented
«and approved.
2? And be it further enacted, That the said Richmond and
souisville railroad company shall possess and enjoy all the
ights and privileges, immunities and franchises, and be sub-
ect to all the obligations contained in the respective charters
t the said Richmond and Southwestern railroad company
nd the Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio Narrow Gauge railroad
ompany, except so far as the same may be modified or changed
vy this act.
3. And be it further enacted, That, in addition to the pow-
rs and privileges set out in the said several charters, and in
he anid ayreement of consolidation, the said Richmond and
sisville railroad company be and it is hereby authorized
» have its principal office, and to hold the general meetings
f its stockholders, in the state of Virginia; to extend its
oad by the best available route from a point at or near New
liver depot to a point at or near Portsmouth; and to build
branch railroad up New river to such point or points as
nav be agreed upon by the company, to the lines of North
‘arolina or Tennessee; and to increase its capital stock, as
equired for the construction of its road, to an amount not
xceeding thirty-five thousand dollars per mile of single
rack.

4, And be it further enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage. But the general assembly
reserves the right to alter or repeal this act.
Chap. 33.—An ACT to authorize the trustees vf the Baptist church of
Danville to sell certain property.
Approved April 7, 1882.
Whereas the trustees for the congregation of the Baptist
church (white) of Danville, Virginia, have purchased a lot
on Main street, in said town, and desire to move their church
and parsonage from its present site to the new lot; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
P. B. Law, P. W. Ferrell, 5. W. Pace, L. B. Conway, and J.
T. Avertt, and their lawfully-appointed successors in office,
all of the town of Danville, trustees of the property belong-
ing to the congregation of the Baptist church (white) of
said town, situated on the corner of Tazewell alley and Pat-
ton street, whereon the church and parsonage now stand, be
and they hereby are empowered to sell the same and convey
the title to the purchaser and to invest the proceeds in the
erection of a suitable house of worship, and other improve-
ments, on said new lot on Main street, lately purchased by
M. Moore and wife.
2. Be it enacted further, That the said trustees and their
successors in office be empowered to hold the said new lot on
Main street in trust for the benefit of said congregation and
church and contract for the erection of such houses thereon
as may be needful! for the use of said congregation.
3. Be it enacted further, That the said trustees or their
successors be and they hereby are empowered to sell the
rear portion of the said new lot, which fronts on Pine street,
and to make title thereto, so far as the same may not be
necessary for the church edifice and otber purposes.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
