Chap. 32.—An ACT to incorporate the order of the Brothers and Sis-
ters of Love and Charity of Clarke county.
Approved April 7, 1882.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That Henry
Randolph, worthy superior; Lewis Pendleton, worthy vice
superior; Nelson Tyler, clerk; Isaac Berkly, conductor;
Charles Laws, inside sentinel; Dennis Seal, treasurer, and
Phillip Harris, chaplain, and their successors in office, to be
elected in accordance with the by-laws of the body herein-
after named, be and they are hereby declared a body politic
and corporate, by the name of Trustees of Lodge iG anbe
four of the Order of the Brothers and Sisters of Love and
Charity of Clarke county, and by that name shall have per-
petual succession and a common seal, may sue and be sued,
plead and be impleaded, and do all and every act necessary
to enjoy the powers hereinafter conferred.
2. The said trustees and their successors in office, may take
by purchase, gift, devise, or bequest, and hold real and per-
sonal estate in Clarke county, and lease, rent, sell, or other-
wise dispose of the same in such manner as to them may
seem most advantageous: provided that such real estate
shall not exceed two acres, and that both real and personal
estate shall not exceed in value three thousand dollars.
3. The objects of the corporation hereby created, shall be
to take care of the sick and destitute, and provide for the
burial of the dead.
4. The said corporation shall have power to make and
adopt a constitution and by-laws, make rules and regulations
for the admission and expulsion of members, and for their
government, the election of officers, and to define their
duties, and the safe-keeping and protection of their prop-
erty and funds: provided the same be not inconsistent with
the constitution and laws of the United States and of this
state.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
