Chap. 29.—An ACT to incorporate the Henrico Railroad Company.
Approved January 19, 1882.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be lawful for Sidney Ward, Allan McCulloh, Alfred a
B. Thacker, Theodore Seligman, C. E. Belvin, J. T. Jones, r
and J. H. Rose, or any five of them, to receive subscriptions }
to the capital stock of the Henrico Railroad Company, and §
tosuperintend the organization of said company. For this r
purpose they may cause books of subscription to be opened $
at such time and places as they may think proper, on giving i
ten days notice thereof in one newspaper published in the
city of Richmond, and under the superintendence of such
persons as they may appoint. The subscription shall be in
shares of one hundred dollars each, and when two hundred
and fitty shares shall be subscribed, the subscribers and such
persons as thereafter may be lawfully associated with them,
shall be a corporation under the name of the Henrico Rail-
road Company.
2. The said company may construct and operate a railroad 3
from a point on the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac [
railroad, in the county of Henrico, known as Hungary sta-r
tion, through the counties of Henrico and Goochland, to any
point at or near the James river, within the county of Hen-
nico or Goochland. And the said company may extend its
railroad from said Hungary station through the counties of
Henrico and Hanover to any point on the Chesapeake and
Ohio railroad, in the county of Henrico or Hanover.
3. It shall be lawful for the said company to lease or pur-
chase any railroad, or a portion of any railroad, constructed,
or partially constructed, and situated partly or wn along
the route of the said company, as it shall be finally located.
4. The capital stock of the said company shall be not less
than one hundred thousand dollars nor more than one mil-
lion dollars, divided into shares of one hundred dollars each,
and stockholders shall be entitled to one vote for each share
of stock.
5. It shall be lawful for the said company to borrow money,
te issue bonds and other evidences of debt, and to secure the
payment of the same by mortgages or otherwise.
6. The said Henrico railroad company shall begin the work
of construction under this act within one year, and expend
in actual construction the, minimum capital herein named
within the limits of the state of Virginia within two years
from the passage of this act, otherwise this act shall be null
and void.
7. This act shall be in force from its passage.
Chap. 29.—An ACT to extend the time for the repeal of the present
fence law in the magisterial district of Belfield, in the county of
Greenesville.
Approved April 7, 1882.
Whereas an election was held in the county of Greenesville,
under authority of an act requiring the officers conducting
elections in Greenesville county to submit the question of
continuing or repealing the fence laws to the voters of voting
districts of Greenesville county, approved February twenty-
seventh, eighteen hundred and-seventy-nine, and it having
been ascertained from the returns and abstracts of the ballots
cast at said election that the magisterial district of Belfield
had voted against the present fence law, and that its repeal
in that district would take effect in accordance with an order
entered of record by the county judge of said county of
Greenesville, at the expiration of two years from the date of
said election; and whereas it appears to this general assembly
that it is desirable that the time for such repeal shall be ex-
tended for two years after the day named in the order of said
judge; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the time
for the repeal of the present fence law in the magisterial dis-
trict of Belfield, in the county of Greenesville, be extended
for three years from the day mentioned in the order entered
of record by the county judge of Greenesville county.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
