Chap. 238.—An ACT to incorporate the Virginia Press Association.
Approved March 6, 1882.
1. Be it enacted by the gencral assembly of Virginia, That
G. H. Barclay, A. Monteiro, Juan A. Pizzini, John Greme,
Daniel Murphy, John T. Lovell, and such other persons as are
now or may hereafter become members of said association,
be and they are hereby constituted a body politic and corpo-
rate, by the name and style of the Virginia press association,
and by this name shall have perpetual succession and a com-
mon seal, may sue and be sued, plead and beimpleaded. They
may frame such constitution and by-laws and regulations for
the government of the association as they may deem proper,
not inconsistent with the laws of this state or of the United
States.
2. The objects of said association are the promotion of
social and business intercourse among the members, and the
advancement of the interests of journalism in Virginia.
3. The said association may acquire and hold property,
real and personal, to an amount not exceeding fifty thousand
dollars.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage, and be sub-
ject to modification or repeal by the general assembly.
