Chap. 221.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section one, chapter 106,
Acts 1879-80, taxing railroads in certain cases fur county and school
purposes.
Approved March 6, 1882.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section one of chapter one hundred and six, entitled an act
to tax railroads in certain cases for county purposes, approved
February twenty-seventh, eighteen hundred and eighty, be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§1. That it shall be lawful, and authority is hereby given
to the survisors of a county, to levy a tax on the roadway
and track, depots, depot grounds and lots, station buildings,
and other real estate of a railroad company, and its telegraph
lines, whose line or lines pass through such county. Such
tax shall be equal to the tax imposed upon other property
for county and school purposes, and based upon the assess-
ment per mile of the roadway and track made by the state
for its purposes. .
2. All acts and parts of acts in conflict with this act are
hereby repealed.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
