Chap. 211.—An ACT to incorporate the Virginia State Beneficial and
Social Society.
’ Approved March 6, 1882.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
Julian L. Wright, G. H. Epps, John HE. Creery, A. C. Hafner,
Joseph W. Laube, William Walker, Alfred T. Williams, F.
A. Adams, V. Donati, M. C. Bass, E. C. Scott Gibbs, Robert
W. Stubbs, John T. Reilly, F. J. Parater, M. P. Joyce, D. A.
Snellings, C. C. Thompson, J. C. Donella, and their associates
and successors, or a majorityof them, be and they are hereby
created and constituted a body politic and corporate, by the
name and style of The Virginia State Beneficial and Social
Society, and by that name and style shall have perpetual suc-
cession and a common seal; may contract and be contracted
with, sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded with in all
courts, and have all the rights and privileges of a corpora-
tion.
2. That said state society shall have the sole and exclusive
right, authority, and power to create and grant charters for
and to all subordinate societies of said state society, and of
revoking the same.
3. That said state society shall have the sole and exclusive
night and authority to make such constitution and by-iaws
for its own government as may be deemed necessary for the
proper management of its own affairs, as well as general
regulations for the government of subordinate societies.
4. That the place of mecting of said society shall be in the
city of Richmond, or such other place as the said state soci-
ety may, from time to time, designate. .
5. That the said state society shall have the franchise,
right, and authority to acquire, hold, and dispose of any and
all property, real, personal, and mixed; that it may obtain,
by purchase, gift, grant, devise, or other manner, not excced-
ing in the aggregate ten thousand dollars.
6. This act shall be in force from its passage.
