Chap. 187.—An ACT to authorize the trustees of Wesleyan Female
Institute, at Staunton, Virginia, to borrow money and secure the
same by mortgage or otherwise.
Approved February 15, 1882.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the board of trustees of the Wesleyan female institute, at
Staunton, Virginia, be authorized and empowered to borrow
money, to an amount not exceeding twenty-five thousand
dollars, at a rate of interest not exceeding six per centum,
payable either annually or semi-annually, at some bank in
said city of Staunton, and to secure the same by mortgage
or otherwise, upon the real or personal estate of said insti-
tute, or both, if necessary.
2. That said board be authorized and empowered (with a
view to making such loan) to issue bonds for the sum which
may be so borrowed, of such denominations as it may deem
proper—either in the form of registered or coupon bonds—
not to run more than twenty years, and to be redeemable at
the option of the board, at the end of any year, upon sixty days
notice to the parties holding the same, by publication in some
newspaper published in said city of Staunton, or otherwise;
such notice to designate the bonds to be redeemed by
number.
3. That such mortgage or other security and bonds as may
be given or issued for such loan as is provided for in this act,
may be executed and authenticated in such manner as said
board, by order entered of record, may direct.
4, This act shall take effect from its passage.
Chap. 187.—An ACT authorizing the auditor of public accounts to
pay to D. C. Mallory, of Grayson county, a certain sum of money.
Approved March 1, 1882.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the auditor
of public accounts be and he ishereby authorized to pay to D.
C. Mallory, of Grayson county, the sum of eighty decllars
out of any funds in the treasury not otherwise appropriated,
being the amount paid to the commonwealth of Virginia on
the sale made by the sheriff of said county of the lands of
Elizabeth Hill, in said county.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
