Chap. 157.—An ACT to allow Abel A. Lake to erect a wharf at
Franklin city, in Accomac county, on Chincoteague bay, for the pur-
pose of shipping oysters.
Approved February 21, 1882.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
Abel A. Lake, of the county of Accomac, be and he hereby is
authorized to erect a wharf at Franklin city, in said county,
on Chincoteague bay, for the purpose of shipping oysters to
and from the same for himself and others. Starting from the
right of way given to the public use by John R. Franklin,
senior, deceased, in his lifetime, near the mouth of a small
creek, running along said right of way and along the Wor-
cester railroad company’s property, three hundred and thirty
feet southwest, from the centre of said railroad’s property ;
thence running five hundred feet, parallel with said railroad
southwestwardly ; thence one hundred and fifty feet south-
westwardly; thence parallel with said railroad, five hundred
feet northwestwardly, near the lands of John Young’s heirs;
thence one hundred and fifty feet, to the place of beginning.
And the said Abel A. Lake, his heirs or assigns, shall have
the right to charge such compensation for the use of said
wharf as may have been agreed upon by and between the par-
ties, or as are usual: provided that said wharf shall not inter-
fere with navigation: and provided, also, that this act shall, at
all times, be under the control of the general assembly, and
be amended or repealed, as may be deemed proper.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
