Chap. 112.—An ACT to repeal an act entitled an act to prescribe a
tence law for the district of Guilford, in the county of Surry,
approved March 9th, 1880.
Approved February 14, 1882.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That an act
approved March the ninth, eighteen hundred and eighty,
entitled an act to prescvibe a tence law for the district of
Guilford, in the county of Surry, be and is hereby repealed.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
Chap. 112.—An ACT to authorize the Upper Appomattox Company
to widen and deepen its canal between certain points.
Approved April 22, 1882.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be lawful for the Upper Appomattox company to
deepen and enlarge their canal and locks sufficiently to afford
a channel forty feet wide, and of a uniform depth of five feet
in the channel of the river and canal, from Clementown mills
to the city of Petersburg: provided if it shall be found to be
impracticable to acquire said depth and width, in the judg-
ment of the superintendents of said company, for the whole
or any part of the distance intervening between the afore-
said points, then in that event the said Appomattox company
shall not be liable for any deficiency of water required for
navigable purposes.
2. This act shall not have the force of law until it shall
have been submitted to the stockholders in general meeting,
and accepted, ratified, and confirmed by them.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage, and all acts
and parts of acts in conflict herewith be and the same are
hereby repealed.
