CHAP. 92.—An ACT to incorporate the Harmony Club of Richmond.
Approved April 2, 1879.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
Jobn D. Snellings, Willam I. Dabney, W.J. Flournoy, Jobn J.
Moffatt, George W. Robinson, and kdward Miller. and such
other persons as are now associated as the Harmony club, or may
hereafter become associated with them, are hereby constituted
a body corporate, by the name of the Harmony Club of Rich-
mond, to be located in the city of Richmond, for the promotion
of social intercourse, for the cultivation of puble taste in
music—band and string, vocal and instrumental—and for main-
taining a newspaper exchange if they see fit.
2. The said corporation shall have the power to make and
adopt a constitution and by-laws, rales and regulations for the
admission and expulsion of its members, aud their government,
the election of its officers, and to dcfine their duties, and for
the safe-keeping of its property and funds, and from time to
time alter or repeal such constitution, by-laws, rales and regu-
lations: provided the same be not inconsistent with the consti-
tution and laws of the United States or of the state of Viginia.
3. The said corporation may purchase and hold, or lease any
real or personal estate, and sell or encumber such as they own,
but shall not hold over two aeres of land at any one time.
They may erect or acquire all necessary buildings in which to
hold singing or musical entertainments.
A, This act shall be in force from its passage, and shall be
subject to amendment, alteration or modification, at the pleas-
ure of the general assembly.
