CHAP. 6.—An ACT to provide for the appointment of special con-
stables to execute attachments and warrants of distress.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
when any attachment or warrant of distress is issued by a jus-
tice of the peace, and there is no constable in the magisterial
districts in which such attachment or warrant of distress is
issued, the justice issuing such attachment or warrant of dis-
tress may, with the assent of the plaintiff in such attachment
or distress warrant, appoint a special constabie to execute the
same, who shall be charged with all the duties, entitled to all
the emoluments, and subject to ail the liabilities with respect
to the execution of such attachment or warrant, that a consta-
ble regularly elected and qualified would be.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
