CHAP. 51.—An ACT to incorporate the Olympia Manufacturing and
Mining Conmipany, in the county of Smyth.
Approved April 1, 1879.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That Hezekiah
Harmon, A.J. Hubble, L. F. Umbarger, F. J. Whitehead, M.
kK. Bachanan, and John B. Whitehead, and such other persons
as may be associated with them, shall be and they are hereby
incorporated and made a body politic and corporate, under the
name and style of The Olympia Manufacturing and Mining
Company; and by that name may sue and be sued, plead and
be impleaded, in all the courts of the commonwealth.
2. The business of the company shall be to manufacture
wool, cotton and other materials, and they shall have the privi-
lege of mining in iron, lead and other minerals in the county
of Smyth.
3. The capital stock of said company shall not be less than
two thousand dollars, nor more than twenty thousand dollars,
which sum may be increased at any time at the discretion of a
majority of the stockholders of said company. ‘The capital
stock of said company shall be divided into shares of twenty-
five dollars each.
4, The said company may purchase and hold property, both
real and personal, which may be necessary in the transaction
of the business of said company.
5. At all meetings of the stockholders of the said company,
each share of stock shall be entitled to one vote.
6. The corporators named in the first section of this act, and
such others as may be associated with them, not exceeding
seven in all, shall be the directors of said company for the first
year, and until their successors are duly elected by the stock-
holders of said company and qualified in the manner prescribed
by law.
7. The company may issue common stock, guaranteed stock,
preferred stock, or borrow on bond or mortgage, and in such
amounts of either as it may deem expedient to secure the con-
struction of the factory, its proper equipment, and the opera-
ting the same. The company may sell the products of their
factory or exchange them for material or supplies in the state.
8. This act shall be in force from its passage.
