CHAP. 37.—An ACT to authorize the treasurer of Orange county to col-
ject tax tickets and county levies for the years 1876, 1876 and 1877.

Whereas R. G. Eckloff, late treasurer of Orange county, de-
parted this life without having collected many tax-bills due to
the state for the year eighteen hundred and seventy-five,
eighteen hundred and seventy-six and eighteen hundred and
seventy-seven ; and whereas his personal representative duly
appointed and qualified by the county court of Orange county
has as such personal representative turned over said tax-bills
to P. B. Jones, who has been appointed and has qualified as
treasurer of the county of Orange;
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the treasurer of Orange county and his deputies be and they |
are hereby authorized to receive and collect taxes, fee-bills and |
county levies where parties have not been returned delinquent,
which accrued and fell due in the years eighteen hundred and
seventy-five, eighteen hundred and seventy-six and eighteen
hundred and seventy-seven, and are still unpaid, and they shall
hereby possess the same legal rights in the collection of the
same that their predecessors had or possessed at the periods
hereinbefore mentioned. And the said treasurer shall be liable
for the same as if the said bills, and so forth, had been originally
placed in his hands for collection.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
