Chap. 84.—An ACT to define the authority of the Council of Ports-
mouth over the streets and alleys of said city.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the council of the city of Portsmouth shall have, in addition
to the authority given it over the streets and alleys in said city
by the sixth clause of the eighteenth section of the act of the
general assembly, approved the eleventh day of March, eigh-
teen hundred and seventy-three, entitled an act to provide a
new charter for the city of Portsmouth, power and authority to
agree, consent to, authorize and empower any railroad company
to construct upon and over and across any streets or alleys of
said city steam railways, for the passage of cars and engines,
to any wharf or landing in said city.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
