Chap. 75.—An ACT to incorporate the Grand Lodge of the Sons of
Sobriety of the State of Virginia.
Approved February 16, 1880.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That |

J. McBryde, H. M. D. Martin, J. W. Mussleman, James F.

cessors, or a majority of them, are hereby created and consti-
tuted a body politic and corporate by the name and style of
The Grand Lodge of the Sons of Sobriety of the State of Vir- —
ginia, and by that name and style shall have perpetual succes- |
sion, may contract and be contracted with, sue and be sued,
and plead and be impleaded in all courts, and have a common
seal and all the rights and privileges of a corporation.
2. That said Grand Lodge of Sons of Sobriety of the state —
of Virginia shall have the sole and exclusive right and au-
thority to make such by-laws or ordinances, rules and regula- |
lations from time to time as it may deem necessary and proper |
for the conduct and management of its own affairs, as well as |
of all subordinate lodges of said order of the Sons of Sobriety.
3. That the place of meeting of said Grand Lodge of the —
Sons of Sobriety of the state of Virginia, shall be at Fred-
ericksburg, Virginia, or at such other place as may be desig- ©
nated by said grand lodge.
4. The said grand lodge shall have the sole and exclusive —
right, authority and power to create and grant charters and —
dispensations to all subordinate lodges of said order of the
Sons of Sobriety and of revoking the same.
5. That the grand lodge shall have the franchise, right and F
authority to acquire, hold and dispose of any and all property, 2,
real, personal or mixed, that it may obtain by purchase, gift, 5
grant, devise or in any other manner.
6. That said grand lodge shall have sole and exclusive au- P
thority and power of determining the names, number and duties te
of its own officers and of all subordinate lodges of said order. ©
7. This act shall be in force from its passage. C
