Chap. 45.—An ACT granting a loan of arms of the state to the
principal of Locust Dale Academy, in Madison county, Virginia.

Approved February 4, 1880.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the governor be and he is hereby authorized, if not incompat-
ible with the public welfare, to loan to the’ principal of Locust
Dale academy, in Madison county, Virginia, fifty Austrian
rifles, or muskets, three commissioned and four non-commis-
sioned officers’ swords, and cartridge-boxes and bayonets, scab-
bards for the muskets, for the use in military exercises of the
pupils of said academy, upon his giving bond with good and
sufficient security for the proper care of such arms and their
return to the state in good condition when thereto required by
the governor.

2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
