CHAP. 34.—An ACT to amend the charter of the Richmond and
Alleghany Railroad Company.
Approved February 2, 1880.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section four of an act approved on the twenty-eighth Febru-
ary, eighteen hundred and seventy-eight, entitled an act to
amend the charter of the Straight-Shoot railroad company, and
to extend its limits, be amended and re-enacted so as to read
as follows :
§4. It shall be lawful for the said Richmond and Alleghany
railroad company to borrow money at a rate of interest not
to exceed eight per centum per annum, and to secure the same
by a first mortgage, not to exceed five millions of dollars, and
asecond mortgage, not to exceed four millions of dollars; or
it may execute a first mortgage, not to exceed four millions of
dollars, upon its main line, omitting its branches or extensions.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
