Chap. 30.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section three of an act
to provide a charter for the town of Front Royal, approved Novem-
ber Ist, 1870.
Aproved February 2, 1880.
1. Be it enacted be the general Assembly of Virginia, That
section third of an act approved November first, eighteen hun-
dred and seventy, entitled an act to provide a charter for the
town of Front Royal, be amended and re-enacted so as read
48 follows :
§3. The said trustees of said town are hereby empowered to
make such by-laws and ordinances not contrary to the laws
and constitution of this state or of the United States as they
may deem necessary and proper for the security, improvement
and good government of said town; and any person or persons
who shall violate any by-law or ordinance passed by said trus-
tees in pursuance of the power hereby vested in them, shall be
subject to such fine as such trustees shall have established for
the violation of said by-laws or ordinances, not exceeding five
dollars for any offence, which fine or fines and the costs of
prosecution shall be recoverable before any justice of the
peace in and for the county of Warren, by warrant in the
name of the trustees of the town of Front Royal, and by them
applied for the improvement of said town: and provided fur-
ther, that no license to sell strong or spiritvous liquors, wine,
beer, ale or porter, or drinks of like nature, within the town of
Front Royal, or within two miles of the bounds of said town,
shall be granted by the county court of Warren county, or any
other authority, unless the party applying therefor shall pro-
duce to such court or authority the certificate of the board of
trustees of said town giving consent to the granting of such
license.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
