CHAP. 231.—An ACT to authorize the consolidation of the Richmonc
and Alleghany Railroad Company and the Buchanan and Cliftor
Forge Railway Company, or the acquisition by the Richmond anc
Alleghany Railroad Company of the works, property and franchises
of the Buchanan and Clifton Forge Railway Company.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the Richmond and Alleghany railroad company and the Buch.
anan and Clifton Forge railway company may consolidate upon
such terms as a majority of the stockholders in the two com.
panies respectively may agree upon, or that it may be lawful
for the Richmond and Alleghany railroad company to acquire
the works, property and franchises of the Buchanan and Clifton
Forge railway company, either by purchase or such agreement
as may be made between the said two companies. And in the
event that such acquisition is made, the Richmond and Alle-
ghany railroad company shall succeed to all the rights, privi-
leges and franchises of the Buchanan and Clifton Forge rail-
way company.
