CHAP. 193.—An ACT to incorporate Lofige No. 1, Love and Charity,
of Princess Anne county, Virginia.
Approved February 25, 1880.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
George Walke, Elijah Summers, John Graves, Armistead Good-
man, and John Dooley, and all others who are now or may
hereafter become members of the lodge, be and they are hereby
made a body corporate and politic by the name and style of
Lodge Number One, Love and Charity, in the county of Princess
Anne, Virginia; and hy that name shall have perpetual succes-
sion and a common seal, may sue and be sued, plead and be
impleaded, with power to purchase, receive, and hold to them
and their successors forever, any lot or lots of land in or near
the said county of Princess Anne, upon which to erect a suit-
able building in which to hold its meetings, not exceeding one
acre of land in the whole, together with such personal estate
as may be necessary for beneficial purposes of said lodge: pro-
vided, that the land, goods, and chattels so authorized to be
held shall not exceed in value five thousand dollars.
2. Said lodge shall have power to make such constitution,
by-laws, and regulations for the government of said lodge and
the execution of its objects, not inconsistent with the laws of
the United States or of this state, as they may think proper.
_ 8. The treasurer shall receive all moneys accruing to the
lodge and property delivered to its care. Before entering on
the discharge of his duties, he shall give bond, with such
security and in such penalty as the lodge may direct, made
payable to the lodge and conditioned for the faithful perform-
ance of his duties; and the lodge may obtain a judgment for
the amount thereof, or for any special delinquencies of the
treasurer, on motion, in any court of record against the said
treasurer and his securities, his or their executors or adminis-
trators, upon giving ten days’ previous notice of such meeting.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
