CHAP. 169.—An ACT to amend section 5 of chapter 61 of the Code of
1873, in reference to the construction of branch railroads or lateral
works.
Approved March 4, 1880.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section five of chapter sixty-one of the Code of eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-three be amended and re-enacted so as to
read as follows:
§5. The president and directors of any company incorpo-
rated to construct a railroad or other work of internal improve-
ment may cause to be made in connection therewith branch
railroads or lateral works, not exceeding two miles each way in
length, and under.a resolution adopted in general meeting, by
two-thirds of all the votes of all the stockholders, may cause to
be made branch railroads or lateral works not exceeding twenty
miles in length.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
