CHAP. 97.—An ACT fixing the southern boundary of the town of
roodson.
Approved February 13, 1879.
Whereas by the act of the general assembly of Virginia,
passed March fifth. eighteen hundred and fifty-six, incorpo-
rating the town of Goodson, Virginia, a sycamore tree near the
middle of Main street, between the towns of Goodson, Virginia,
and Bristol, Tennessee, was fixed as the beginning corner of
the boundary line of said town of Goodson; and whereas the
legislature of the state of Tennegsee, in the original act incor-
porating the town of Bristol, Tennessee, fixed the beginning
corner of the boundary of said town of Tennessee at or near
the said sycamore tree, which said tree was regarded by both
of the said states as a point in the state’s line between the said
states ; and whereas some doubts and difficulties respecting the
location of said state line between said towns have arisen;
now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the jurisdic.
tion of this state shall, until the true line between this state
and the state of Tennessee shall be agreed upon by the two
states and permanently located, extend to the line of the mid-
dle of Main street between said towns of Goodson and Bristol,
passing through or near the point at which said sycamore tree
stood.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
