CHAP. 87.—An ACT for the relief of the sureties of Peyton R. Ford,
late colleetor of Madison township of the connty of Chatlotte.
Approved February 8, 1879.
Whereas a judgment was obtained in the circuit court of
Charlotte county by the commonwealth of Virginia against
Peyton R. Ford, Jate collector of Madison township, in the
county of Charlotte, and Joseph O. Snell, Fenton G. North, C.
M. Pugh and A. D. Ford, his sureties on his official bond. for
the sum of thirteen hundred and fifty-four dollars and twenty-
nine cents, to be discharged by the payment of nine hundred
and fifty-two dollars and forty-four cents, with interest thereon
from the eighth day of August, eighteen hundred and seventy-
eight, till paid; and whereas it is deemed expedient to settle
with the sureties on the terms herematter directed :
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the auditor of public accounts is hereby authorized and directed
to accept {rom the said sureties bonds of the state of Virginia,
known as consol bonds, with coupons attached, receivable for
all taxes, dues and demands of the state of Virginia, to the
amount of mine hundred and fifty-two dollars and forty-four
cents, with interest from the eighth day of August, eighteen
hundred and seventy-seven, in full satisfaction of their liability
by reason of said judgment.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
