CHAP. 78.—An ACT for the protection of the charitable institutions
of the state.
Approved February 8, 1879.
Whereas it appears by the report of the auditor of public
accounts that there is a large sum still unpaid of the appro-
priations that have been made to the lunatic asylums and the
deaf, dumb and blind institute; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the auditor
of public accounts be and he is hereby authorized and directed,
as far as it is practicable, to give precedence to the charitable
institutions in paying the annual appropriations.
2. That the auditor shall set apart thirty-three and one-third
per centum of the first moneys that come into the treasury to
pay the arrears to said asylums and to the deaf, dumb and
blind institution, until all of the balance now due them is paid,
which sum shall be paid ratably to said institutions.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
Chap. 79—An ACT to fix the times of holding courts m the four-
teenth judicial circuit.
Approved February 8, 1879.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the circuit courts of the fourteenth judicial circuit shall here-
after be holden as follows :
In Roanoke county, on the first day of April and first day of
October ;
Craig county, fifteenth day of April and fifteenth day of Oc-
tober ;
Floyd county, third day of May and twenty-second day of
November ;
Montgomery county, tenth day of May and first day of De-
cember ;
Botetourt county, twenty-third day of May and twenty-second
day of October ;
Giles county, seventh day of June and seventh day of No-
vember.
2. Allacts and parts of acts inconsistent herewith, are hereby
repealed.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
