Chap. 73.—An ACT to incorporate Saloine cemetary company, near

Middleburg, Loudoun county, Virginia.
Approved February 8, 1879.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
Braxton Brown, Peyton Taylor, Arthur Green, QO. L. Grant,
William Smith, Thoinas Smith, Lee Jackson. Logan Turner,
and Alfred Lee, and such other persons as they may associate
with them, and their successors, shall be and are hereby made
and constituted a body politic and corporate, uncer the name of
The Salome Cemetery company, subject to the provisions of
the fifty-sixth and fifty-seventh chapters of the Code of Vir-
oinia, edition of eighteen hundred and seventy-three, so far as
the same may be applicable and necessary for cemetary pur-
poses: provided that at no time shall the real estate held by
the said company exceed twenty acres. The officers of the
company shall be a president and six directors, who shall be
elected every year by the company—the first election to be held
on the first Tuesday in April, eighteen hundred and seyenty-
nine. No interest of a corporator in the property of the said
company, shall be in any way liable to the payment of debts,
pass by insolvency, or into the hands of personal representa-
tives, or be liable for taxes of any description, but the rights
and interests shall remain in the families of each, according to
the course of descent: provided that no money derived by the
corporation from the sale of lots in this cemetery, shall be ap-
propriated to private use, or for any other than the benefit and
improvement of said cemetery. No streets, lawns, roads or}
alleys shall at any time be established or made over the land of ° t
the said company; nor shall the same be condemned or taken P
in any manner for any public use without the consent of the
company. The grounds and improvements thereon, and all ©
other property and things connected therewith, belonging to the t
company hereby incorporated, shall. for all police purposes, be ¢
under the protection of and subject to the ordinances of the
town of Middleburg; and the mayor of said town shall have
jurisdiction, concurrent with the justices and other officers of
Loudoun county, of all offences committed upon and within
said:grounds, in the same manner as if dune and committed
within the town of Middleburg.
2. The said company shall not own any land at a greater I
distance than one mile from the corporate limits of the town of ©
Middleburg, Loudoun county.
