CHAP. 61.—An ACT to provide for the protection of fish in the
Appomattox river,
Approved February 1, 1879.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly (for the better pro-
tection of the fish in the waters of the Appomattox river),
That it shall not be lawful for any person or persons, or corpo-
ration, to place or allow to pass into the waters of the Appo-
mattox river, or any of its tributaries, any lime, gas-tar, or
refuse of gas works injurious to fish.
2. Any person violating this act shall, on conviction thereof
before a justice of the peace, forfeit and pay the sum of thirty
dollars for each offence; and all fines and forfeitures incurred
under this act shall, when collected, he paid one-half to the in-
former and the residue to the literary fund.
