CHAP. 246.—An AC'l' to empower the board of supervisors of the
county of Charlotte to make a levy to pay counsel for services in
defending the suit of Stuart, Buchanan & Co.
Approved March 3, 1879.
Whereas the county of Charlotte is and has been involved in
a suit with Stuart, Buchanan and Company, and in defending
the county, the board of supervisors, deeming it necessary for
the protection of the interests of said county, have employed
counsel to be associated with the attorney for the commonwealtk
of Charlotte county; therefore,
1, Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the board of supervisors of the county of Charlotte be and
they are hereby authorized and empowered to make a levy for
such sum of money as in their judgment may be a proper and
reasonable payment for the services of counsel employed in
and about the said suit of Stuart, Buchanan and Company
against the said county.
2. This act shall be in ferce from its passage.

Chap. 246.--An ACT to extend the time for the treasurer of Stafford
county to make returns of his delinquent and insolvent lists for the
year L877.
Approved March 3, 1879.
Whereas Thomas Waller, treasurer of Stafford county, failed
to make his return to the auditor of public accounts of his de-
linquent and insolvent lists for the year eighteen hundred and
seventy-seven, within the time prescribed by law; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the said treasurer shall be and is hereby allowed until the first
day of April, eighteen hundred and seventy-nine, to make re-
turn of his delinquent and insolvent lists for the year eighteen
hundred and seventy-seven; and if made out and certified
according to law by that time. the auditor of public accounts
is hereby authorized to allow the proper credit therefor in the
final settlement of the accounts of said treasurer.
2, This act shall be in force from its passage.
