CHAP. 219.—An ACT to authorize the board ef supervisors of Amelia
eounty fo pay counsel employed by them to prosecute certain suits
on benelf of the eouity.

Whereas in certain saits and motions sately prosecuted by
the board of supervisors of the county of Amelia, against C.
Coleman and §. B. R. Loving, and recently decided by the cir-
cuit court of said county in faver of the said board, the coim-
monwealth’s attorney of said county was co situated that he
could uot appear as counsel for the Loard. and if became neces-
sary for them to employ other counsel to represent their in-
terests; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general ascembly of Virginia. That
the beard of supervisors of the county of Amelia be and they
are hereby empowered to pay to William I. Mann, the counsel
employed by them, out of any money in the hands of the county
treasurer, and under their control, 2 reasonable compensation
for his services in the suits and motions aforesaid: provided
the same shall not exceed the sum of three hundred dollars,
and if necessary they shall have power to.make a levy upon
the taxable property in the county to raise the amount which
they shall decide to pay. :
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
