Chap. 179.—An ACT to amend and re-enact the Ist section of an act
to incorporate the Norfolk and Berkley Railroad Company.
Approved March 3, 1879.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the first section
of an act entitled an act to incorpora‘e the Norfolk and Berk-
ley railroad company, be amended and re-enacted so as to read
as follows:
$1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That William
W. Joes, William &S. Batt, George MeIntosh, F. S. Taylor, Wil-
liam F. Allen, and W. C. Elarday, and such others as may be
associated with them, be and they are hereby constituted a
body politic and corporate, by the name and style of The Nor-
folk and Berkley Railroad Company; and shall have authority
to construct and equip a railway, and to run cars thereon by
steam, horse or mule power, for the conveyance of passengers
and property from Market square, on Main street, in the city of
Norfolk, parallel with the Norfolk city railway company’s track
on Main street, to a point in Berkley near the wharf of the
Berkley ferry: provided that the consent of the council of the
city of Norfolk be first obtained to the use of such part of
the county road as may be required: and provided further, that
the rights of the Norfolk city railroad company are not inter-
ferred with,
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
