CHAP. 153.—An ACT to empower the trustees of the Columbia Bap-
tist church, in the town of Falls Chureh, in the county of Fairfax,
to seli and convey church property.
Approved February 27, 1879.
j. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
George M. Thompson, P. Hogan, and others, legal trustees, and
their successors, of the Columbia Baptist church, in the town
of Falls Chureh, county of Fairfax, be and are hereby au-
thorized to sell and convey the real estate of the said Columbia
Baptist church in said town to any bona fide purchaser for a
valuable consideration, and to reinvest so much of the proceeds
of such sale as may be necessary, in a suitable lot for the erec-
tion of a suitable building for the use of the congregation of
the said Columbia Baptist church; the remainder of such pro-
ceeds, if any, to be invested and controlled by the said trustees
and their successors, for the benefit of the said Columbia church ;
but if from the smallness cf the.membership of said church,
or other good causes, the said church should deem it inexpedient
to purchase or erect other buildings for the use of said econgre-
gation, then the proceeds of such sale shall be turned over by
said trustees to the Potomac Baptist association, or to the Bap-
tist interest in Virginia, as they determine, or the laws govern-
ing the church organization, of which the said Columbia Baptist
church is a part, shall direct or require. -
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
